I went back to Broad to do assemblies and had a picture taken with James Sanchez who is part Chumash.
James was a wonderful student to have in my workshops. He knew alot about his culture and had a positive influence on the other students as they did their art activities.

This is Ms. Chu’s third grade class at Wescove Elementary School in West Covina, CA.
The students learned about Native American culture by drawing pictograph’s, making a storyboard of a Cheyenne Indian legend and creating their own Spirit Symbols inspired by Native American Art objects.
Geri teaches workshops at many schools throughout the country.
Lots happening this past month. Many workshops, performances and showcases in May and June.
Workshops at Broad Avenue Elementary School, The San Fernando Valley Mental Health Center, World City workshop at Disney Hall and performances at the Getty Museum. Lots of variety and keeps me on my toes!

World City featured a Hawaiian Dance Company, Ha’lau O Keikiau’i. Kids made armbands inspired by traditional Native Hawaiian petroglyph and tattoo symbols.

Geri is featured at the Getty on June 3rd with her program, “Grandmother Spider Brings The Sun”, inspired by Oudry’s paintings of animals during the reign of King Louie XIV in France.
